Counties Caravan Rentals began in August 2003, when husband-and-wife team Lynette and Jeff Millen decided to turn a small fleet of caravans into a local business of their own.

Franklin has always been home for them. Jeff was born and raised in the area, while Lynette has called Franklin home for more than 40 years. So from the very beginning, Counties was built around something simple — looking after people, offering practical advice, and providing caravans they could feel confident putting their own family into.

What started with just a handful of caravans has steadily grown into a fleet of more than 50. But even as the business has grown, the personal approach hasn’t changed.

Lynette and Jeff still believe that finding the right caravan starts with understanding what someone actually needs — because no two customers, families or situations are quite the same.

For some, it’s about packing up and exploring New Zealand for a weekend or a summer holiday. For others, a caravan becomes an extra bedroom for visiting family, somewhere comfortable to stay during a renovation or move, or even a home for a few months.

Counties offers everything from short stays of a day or two through to long-term hire of three months or more, giving people the flexibility to find a solution that fits their life.

But for Lynette and Jeff, Counties Caravan Rentals has never been just about the caravans. It’s about the families heading away together.

The people who suddenly need a bit more room at home. The customers going through a move or renovation who need somewhere comfortable to live. And the travellers who simply want the freedom to get out and see more of New Zealand.

More than two decades later, Counties Caravan Rentals is still family-run, still proudly based in Franklin, and still focused on the same thing it was in 2003 — helping people find the right caravan and making the whole experience as easy as possible.
